My Toddler is afraid of his Shoes?
My son is 16 months and before had no problem wearing shoes, but in the last month he has become terrified. When I put lil boots or shoes on him and stand him up he refuses to walk, and he stands very still shaking and screaming and crying and reaching for me. I am not sure what to do, when he doesnt have Footwear on he is just fine walking around but as soon as I put any type of footwear on him he becomes terrified and wont calm down till i take them back off.
maybe his shoes don’t fit him right. maybe you should try to make a slow transition from soxs to soxs with rubber treads to fun playful slippers with his fave character on them, to sandels to shoes and boots.
let him wear his shoes inside one day and play all sorts of fun games like one where you have one shoe or slipper and he has to find the other…maybe even try putting treats inside them…or buy hin a children’s book about shoes … i’ve seen one that teaches you how to tie them up he won’t be able to do that yet but it will get him used to shoes at least
